Smart 20 (iStick Clone)

When the Eleaf iStick hit the market, it was an instant sensation. And, usually out of stock quickly when vape vendors get them in stock. You shouldn't be surprised then that clones are nipping hot on the heals of the iStick.

At the right is the box from the Smart-20. It is nearly identical (as close to a 1:1 clone as you can get) to the iStick and includes an eGo adapter, expanding the possible use and range of the small device.

The Smart-20 features a 2200 mAh battery. That's the same size battery and should last just as long as the original. The Smart-20 also features variable voltage as well as variable wattage. Both can be set in 0.1 increments.

The package includes an eGo threaded adapter, and USB cable.

Other features include:

  • Press the square fire button 5 times to turn ON/OFF
  • Press the square fire button 3 times to alternate between VV/VW modes
  • Short circuit protection
  • Low voltage protection
  • Over 10 second inhale protection
  • 510 threaded connection (with a brass center pin)

The image at the right shows the Smart-20 with the included eGo adapter for maximum compatibility with *mixers that have 510 or eGo connectors. The brass pin is fixed and made of brass for maximum power transfer and minimal power drop-off.

The Smart-20 is available in a wide range of colors: Silver (as shown at right), Black (as shown at the top), Red, Purple, Light Blue, Blue, and Gold. Some sites even feature textured finishes in a wider variety of colors.

About the only difference is that the Smart-20 is 4.6 grams lighter than the iStick. This form factor is ideal. It's shaped perfectly to fit in the hand and its rectangular style also means it will not roll off your car seat, sofa cushion or table.

Charging the unit is through a micro USB port on the bottom of the unit.

The battery is not replaceable, it is a fixed unit – that is the same as the original iStick. With a life of between 300 and 350 recharges, it's a good value and about the same price as the eGo/EVOD batteries that it is meant to replace.

So, what's the verdict? Is it worth it? I know that I typed in about half the price of the iStick above, but that isn't quite right. It is lower priced than the original iStick and includes everything the iStick does, in that regard it is a good deal. The manufacturer is unknown, but has the same certifications and should be as safe as the iStick. If you are planning on buying more than one of these units, I would go with the Smart-20. If you plan on purchasing only one, I would stick with the original and get the iStick.
