Box Style (Replaceable)
Box Style Advanced Personal Vaporizers are mostly rectangular shape. Examples are the Innokin MVP, Innokin VTR, Dovpo E LVT, Hana MODZ DNA 20, and Hana MODZ DNA 30.
We have three categories of Box Style devices: mini, those with replaceable batteries and those with fixed batteries (not replaceable).
This category is for those that use replaceable batteries.
Review: Cloupor T6
If there is one advanced personal vaporizers that I have highly anticipated, this is it. Since I first saw the specifications and announcements, I've wanted one. This isn't about wattage, it is about a well-rounded device with excellent specifications and uses a 26650 battery with time between charges measured in days.
Overview: Cloupor T8
Please note, this is NOT a test & review article. We had a pre-order for the Cloupor T8 for several months now and when received we had already decided not to review multi-battery systems. This is an overview and our warnings about multi-battery systems remains: the Cloupor T8 has the batteries connected in series. The risks involved have to be weighed carefully before using multi-battery devices, particularly at low wattage with high resistance coils and/or high wattage with low resistance coils. Keep in mind you are putting out high voltage to a coil that is near your face and pointed directly at your throat. Using these devices at extremes of wattage is a major risk.
Review: Dovpo E LVT
The Dovpo E LVT is one robust unit. The case is virtually shatter proof and water resistant -- perfect for trades workers and those that love the outdoors. This unit is supplied by Canvape.
Review: Dovpo E LVT 2
Thanks to VapeB2B for providing the E-LVT 2 for testing and review. Expanding the range of the original, the Dovpo E LVT 2 supports sub-ohm vaping at a wattage range up to 30 watts -- from one single 18650 battery and in the same rugged and water resistant form factor as the original.
Review: Heatvape Invader
We have removed the review of the Heatvape Invader review from KickButtAndVape. The Heatvape Invader batteries are connected in series and pose an unnecessary risk to vapers.
Review: iCig V9
If you are like me, looking for the unusual design (and willing to accept a few negatives), the iCig V9 may be for you. It's an unusual device featuring one single 18650 battery, wrapped in PU Leather and capped with chromed top and bottom. You can charge it through the micro USB port at the bottom. The power button is an unusual shape. What sets this apart even further is a light emitting diode that can change to four different colors ... while vaping in dark surrounds, it can set you apart from the crowd.
Review: Innokin VTR (revised)
I've been waiting to get my hands on an Innokin VTR since first hefting one of these "bricks" at a vape shop when they were originally released. When you combined replaceable batteries with this level of quality, you end up with an Advanced Personal Vaporizer that is worth having and worth keeping. My thanks to Total Evapes for providing this review unit.
Review: Kangertech KBox 40W
Our thanks to Twisted Coil Vapes for providing this brand new mod from Kangertech. Kangertech have released their first mod -- a variable wattage device with replaceable 18650 battery that goes up to 40 watts. It's a perfect fit for the Kangertech Subtank and the combination of the two look great!
Review: KSD Hana Modz DNA 30
A Hana Box Mod Clone from KSD. This unit was provided by Canvape. We chose the Steel Grey version. It's also available in Black, Red, Blue, and Orange. A sleek 30 watt device that uses one 18650 battery that features a built-in USB charger.
Review: Pioneer4You IPV V2
It sounds like an oxymoron -- an authentic box mode from a China manufacturer. But, this is real. Pioneer4You, also known as Green Leaf, is the company behind a number of innovations like the Seven 22, Seven 30 and the IPV. And now, the IPV V2, a 50 Watt Advanced Personal Vaporizer in a box mod shape.
Review: Pioneer4You IPV 3
We have removed the review of the Pioneer4You review from KickButtAndVape. The specs are in conflict with the manufacturer of the chipset and the claims that the IPV 3 batteries are connected in parallel (supported with Pioneer4You documentation) is incorrect. The IPV 3 batteries are connected in series.
Review: Pioneer4You IPV4
This is the first "in series" multi-battery system we have felt some measure of comfort in testing and reviewing. Pioneer4You has designed this unit with vaper's safety in mind. For example, the buck converter limits voltage to 7.0 volts and a maximum of 35 amps. It has a claimed efficiency of 95% and even USB charging port. The engineering behind this has to be solid and the specs indicate this.
Overview: Sigelei 150
This is not a full review. In this article we look at the Sigelei 150, an "in-series" dual 18650 battery system.
Review: Yosen SX Zero
This stainless steel Zero Modz style 50 watt mod with acrylic cover is made by Yosen. It has a serial number and is claimed to be a 1:1 clone. Since there is nothing like it available other than the shape, I am not sure that it can be called a 1:1 clone. But, at this price range, it is a good quality and attractive vape. It certainly is much smaller than pictures make it look ...
If it quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, talks like a duck ... it's an IPV 2 clone. The Unicorn has the same wattage range, same touch fire gimmicky button, and overall look of the IPV 2. Setting it apart, though, is a dual 18650 battery setup (in parallel).
Review: Vaporshark rDNA
The Vaporsharp rDNA authentic mod is the smallest replaceable 18650 Advanced Personal Vaporizer available. With perfect form and function, this is a monument to the Evolv DNA chip. Vape in stealth mode with this pocket size APV.
Review: Vaporshark rDNA 40D
The new generation of rDNA has the Evolv 40 chipset and some significant new features including a super quick charging system (ZIP charge) and temperature control.
Review: Luxyoun Smaug V2
This Luxyoun Smaug V2 is a dual 18650 advanced personal vaporizer that connects the batteries in parallel. It features a wide wattage range from 7 watts to 150 watts in 1 watt increments. Based on Luxyoun's own SX1500 chipset, you can adjust the wattage with the G-Sensor or with the traditional adjustment buttons. The display has a graphical display of remaining battery charge, voltage remaining, voltage output, puff counter, last puff in seconds (one decimal accuracy), coil resistance (in ohms), and wattage. It also supports coil resistance from 0.3 ohms to 3.0 ohms.
Evolv DNA vs YiHi SX
There are three main technologies for higher wattage in Advanced Personal Vaporizers. One of those would be the proprietary circuitry from any manufacturer. Evolv makes the DNA 20D and DNA 30D. YiHi make the SX300, SX330 and are soon to release the SX350.
Here's a table of all the specifications for Advanced Personal Vaporizers (Box)
