Uwell Crown

Excellent packaging, excellent build quality!

This is one tank I was looking forward to testing. Many users report outstanding flavor and cloud generation with this sub-ohm tank system.

I was looking forward to testing this in wattage mode and in temperature control mode ... but, alas, the one I received did not include a Ni200 coil in the package. I received two 0.25 Dual wrap coils, and one 0.5 Dual wrap coil – all three are Kanthal.

Before I get into test results, I must say that the packaging of this device is outstanding. Everything  you could possibly want is included in the box.

The tank itself is available in two colors. I received the brushed stainless steel version (shown at the left).

It is also available in a black version (shown at the right).

Regardless of which color you prefer, you will get a superbly built tank with buttery threads and a well thought out design. The tank itself is 22 mm at the bottom. The air flow control ring and the top filling section are slightly larger diameter at 24 mm – both with a knurled edge making it easy to turn the air flow ring and thread/remove the top filler cap. The picture at the left (brushed stainless steel) shows the 510 connector – it is very smooth threading and the 510 pin is silver colored. I believe it is silver plated. Power to the coil was near instantaneous and perfect!

Air flow is incredible. I personally prefer a lung draw and usually wide-open air flow. With the Uwell Crown, I was able to still get a lung hit on the narrowest air flow setting. Wide open this is an air factory with two wide slots, one on either side of the base. The air flow ring is smooth and features a dentente that is easy to turn and provides tactile feedback – you won't move the air flow ring inadvertently, yet it is quite easy and simple to operate.

Every part fits together absolutely perfectly. No gaps, not one part out of whack size-wise, A drip tip with dual silicone seals that sits in a beveled recess (without wobbling, it's a firm fit).

You'll need the generous 4 ml capacity ... cloud generation on this is incredible. With wide open air flow, you will go through lots of juice. And, you'll get incredible flavor with each inhale.

Priming these coils takes time, you will have to be patient. Breaking in a new coil takes about 1/4 tank before you get the full effect of the juice flavor and clouds. I suspect that has to do with the massive amount of organic cotton wicking material surrounding the coil ... you'll need the break-in period to fully saturate the wicking material.

Filling the Uwell Crown with E-Liquid can't get any easier than this. With other tanks, you have to rotate a dial, hold it in place and remove a top fill section. With the Uwell Crown, you simply close off the air flow, unthread the top, fill with E-Liquid. Visibility of the filling section is excellent. Once filled with a full 4 ml, replace the buttery smooth top fill cap, and open the air flow to your desired selection. The top fill section has a silicone seal embedded that stays firmly in place – no muss, no fuss.

I have access to just about every vaping product made. The Uwell Crown made it into the top three tanks that I use daily. There's the Freemax Starre Pro, the Smok GCT, and now the Uwell Crown. These are go-to tanks where I absolutely know I get an outstanding vape experience with rich full flavor and I can dial in the vape and clouds I want.

One note: I personally did not like the 0.25 ohm coils. Despite fiddling with different settings on several mods I tried with this tank/coil combination, I was never able to get a "sweet spot" in wattage. If I set it at 25W, I ended up with muted flavor, set any higher than 26W I did get good flavor for about half the inhales. With the 0.5 ohm coils, it was nothing but sweet spot regardless of wattage (up to 50W as I tested). And I need to point out that may be my experience with a bad 0.25 ohm coil ... try it yourself.

So, what’s the verdict? Is it worth it?

The price point of the Uwell Crown at Canvape make this an exceptional value proposition. It is an outstanding tank with a good variety of coils at a decent price to suit just about every vaping style. Perfect for mouth inhales or lung inhales with an easy to rotate air flow control ring. Even with hand coordination challenges (like myself), the tank is very easy to use, fill, and control. Definitely a "must-have" tank.
